Drive from Xining to Shachong Monastery (Tib: བྱ་ཁྱུང་། Chin: Xia Qiong Si) .  It is one of the six great Yellow Sect (Gelukpa Tradition of Tibetan Buddhism) monasteries of Tibet. It was founded in 1567. This is one of the most hidden monasteries in Amdo. Shachong is home to 500 monks and it is located on the top of Amnye Shachong Mountain. There is a 2 hour picturesque hike around the monastery where you can see the Yellow river as it runs through the valley. (Please consult with your guide about the length of the kora and it’s difficulty.)  After visiting this great monastery, we will drive to Chongjia National Park. We will do a short hike at Gurtse La Pass (3600m)
