Qinghai 青海:
Probably you have heard about QH already but for many this amazing region is still quite a new destination. The landscapes and cultures in Qinghai give you some incredible travel experiences  that you may not find anywhere else in China.

The highlight of this particular 7-day trip is Amney Machen Holy Mountain. It takes you to reach the high peaks in the plateau, but, you also get to see a variety of the landscapes -- vast grasslands, colorful canyons, farming lands, and valleys. You will also meet the people of the land -- monasteries, homestay at the village, local restaurants, and if the weather allows, picnic and short hikes.

On route to reach the holy Amney Machen, we will fist travel across the towns, villages, and grassland and stop for a short ice walk on the frozen Qinghai lake. Standing at the Amney Machen mountain pass at 4600m high, you will have a close look at the Rikar Dongshang glacier, shining under the sun. Descending from the high peaks, you arrive at the warm valleys via the Longyang Gorge where the Yellow River runs through some colorful canyons. You will visit the Tibetan Buddhist monasteries and the remote retreat sites where Buddhist practitioners stay for meditation for months. You will have tea with the monks at the their homes, and stay one night at a Tibetan village. Qinghai is a multicultural region, we will have some good food choices of Tibetan, Chinese and Muslim cuisines.

So the winter is cold here, you will expect a general temperature of below zero, some of the places you visit will be even 20-30c under zero degree. But since the sunlight is abundant and weather dry, so during the day, it can be very pleasant. The night (of course on a snow and windy day) is cold. However,  since all the hotels we selected provide 24-hour heating and hot shower facility, also our vehicles are 4WD cars with winter tire and wheel chains in case of snow, it will be a comfortable trip. Our professional tour leader will company you during the entire trip. We'll also make fresh coffee, bring yak cheese, imported red-wine and snacks, and stop by the good spots for picnics when the weather allows.
