Credit Card and Banking System in China & Tibet

When travelling in China or Tibet, it is always a good idea to bring some cash with you, especially if you are travelling to remote areas. Big cities are places where you can easily find banks and ATMs. International cards can be used on ATMs displaying the international card service sign. To exchange international currency into RMB, it is best to use the Bank of China (BOC), which is located in bigger cities but not in counties and townships. Branches of the BOC usually house English-speaking members of staff, located at an international counter. With currency exchanges, you may exchange as much currency as you wish. For cash withdrawals using a credit card, the maximum amount is 2000 RMB per day.
